The Duncan Ridge Trail 50K/30K will be one of the toughest 50Ks in the Southeast with more than 10,000 feet of elevation gain. The actual elevation profile is displayed in the logo, but that is just the “out” of an “out and back” race. This race uses the Coosa Backcountry Trail and the Duncan Ridge Trail, which is considered one of the toughest trails in Georgia. The race will start and finish at Vogel State Park’s Lake Trahlyta in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains. There will be a 30K option as well. All proceeds go back to the park volunteers every year.
The race will start in front of cabin 20. The route will follow the Coosa Back Country trail north out of the park and across hwy180. When the Coosa Back Country Trail intersects with the DRT, the route will turn right towards Coosa Bald. Runner will follow the DRT until White Oak Stomp. Runners will turn left on FS 39(dirt road) at AS#2. FS 39 will be followed until Wolf Pen Gap at 180 and then runners will turn left back on to the Coosa Back Country Trail which leads back to the finish.
The finish line for both races is the bridge leading to shelter#1, under the Duncan ridge banner.
